About RTLA

Rajasthan Technical Library Association (RTLA) is a well-known state-level Library and Information Professionals association. It is governed by an elected Executive Committee which acts as a policy-making body of the association. The association came into existence in June 2010 and established under the Rajasthan Non-Trading Companies Act, 1960 (13 of 1960) vide no. 760/2010.

The RTLA executive committee constitutes executive and council members who are elected by the General Body of Association. RTLA enjoys the privilege of having good number of dedicated life members, who are contributing significantly for expansion and dissemination of library knowledge.

The core objective of RTLA is to provide a common platform to library professionals for exchange of latest updates, new knowledge, improve the quality of library and information centres and functioning for the welfare of Library Professionals. The RTLA is dedicated for the holistic development of library profession, therefore frequently organizes various events like seminars, thought-provoking discussions, brainstorming sessions for insights to conceptualize innovative research proposals are the usual activities under the canvas of association. The association also frequently strives to organize invited lectures, workshops for professional and students on contemporary advancements of library sciences.

Objectives:

  • To propagate and strengthen the base of library movement in Rajasthan for up-gradation of library knowledge in tandem with the safeguard of library professionals through better welfare schemes/arrangements/facilities.
  • To promote research to cater out the essential needs of library sciences through innovation, pragmatism and technical advancements so that attraction of academicians and general public towards the library can be assured with better facilities for the service of humanity.
  • Encourage a widespread understanding of the value of good library & information services.
  • Strive to have collaborations and affiliations from world-renowned libraries which have achieved prudence of national and international acclaims in the field so that exchange of knowledge resource can be tapped and professional enhancement of requisite skills is assured.
  • RTLA is to develop strong linkages among the librarians of Rajasthan through discussion, sharing and exchange of ideas and thus providing a common forum to the professionals interested or engaged in librarianship and information services by holding national conferences, seminars, workshops, training session, library development programmes and publishing Journals and newsletters.
